Earnings Season Moves Our Portfolio
It’s good to be back!
As I mentioned last week, I was on vacation with the family in Alaska, and while I loved getting some time to relax and reflect, I missed being in the thick of things.
I was still keeping an eye on the portfolio while I was gone (I’m a workaholic), and over the past two weeks, a number of our positions reported earnings.
As I cautioned in the August monthly that you received last week, earnings time always comes with some volatility, and our portfolio has been no exception.
Overall, it’s been a good boost to our holdings, though. Out of 14 positions, seven are up by the double digits, with five up 35% or higher! Six positions are down, but none over 10%.
This week’s webinar, I delve further into our earnings season, including:
Why we’re moving Nidec Corp. (OTC: NJDCY) to a buy from a hold. The position is up about 60% for us, but there’s further upside ahead.
Then I discuss Stericycle (Nasdaq: SRCL) and Wheaton Precious Metals (NYSE: WPM), and why we’re going to inch their trailing stops up a bit.
I also cover the good week for South Jersey Industries (NYSE: SJI), which is up 42%, Rio Tinto (NYSE: RIO), which is up 10%, and Archer Daniels Midland (NYSE: ADM), which is now up more than 60%! These companies reported strong earnings that pleased shareholders, so if you’ve been participating in these gains, well done. I’m happy to see you profiting.
Lastly, I touch on Friday’s trade alert, in which we sold Goldcorp at the market to preserve some capital. If you missed that alert, you can catch up by reading it here: http://blackhattorrents.com/index.php?page=forum&action=viewtopic&topicid=173.msg597#msg597
